    WORKSHOP DESCRIPTION:

Webinar 1: Understanding Intimate Partner Violence (IPV), engaging survivors and managing disclosures, risk assessment and impact on children

Webinar 2: Intimate Partner Violence (IPV) - working effectively with survivors, a therapeutic model for intervention, systemic and justice issues and self-care

Intimate Partner Violence (IPV) is a common issue in specialist and general psychological settings. It is a major social determinant of health and psychological wellbeing of countless children and adults. It is a major factor in forensic populations, couple therapy, child psychology (including school populations) and assessments for court.

Working with this issue requires an understanding of the dynamics of a controlling relationship and a capacity to assess for ongoing risk to victim safety. This is especially important with IPV, as the decision to seek help can increase risk to the client. This webinar series reflects the APS practice guidelines for working with IPV, developed by a national consultant group of APS members led by the webinar presenter.
