GST) until 15th September 2025 WORKSHOP DESCRIPTION: This webinar course will be over two half days on Friday 17 and Friday 24 October. Dr Davies will look at the definition of grief and models of grief and loss. She will discuss clear and less clear losses. Participants will gain an understanding of the different types of losses we encounter in our work . Dr Davies will address clinical interventions to assist with the therapeutic goals for working with grief and loss, especially ambiguous loss. She will also address the impact such work can have on us and the need for care of ourselves as therapists working with loss. PRESENTER: Dr Elizabeth Davies Dr Elizabeth (Liz) Davies is an Accredited Mental Health Social Worker, currently working in private practice. Liz completed her social work degree at the University of New South Wales "last century". Liz has extensive practice and management experience in hospital and community-based health settings, Justice, and Education. Her clinical experience has been predominantly in the areas of trauma and ambiguous loss. Liz is foremost a practitioner, and it was her extensive practice that led her to undertake PhD research thirty years into her social work career. Liz completed her PhD in 2020, after working in the missing persons’ sector from 2010 to 2018. Her research examined the psychosocial experience of young people, their parents, and carers impacted by the loss of a missing family member. Liz is committed to supporting and promoting the professional excellence of social workers and other mental health professionals as clinicians and lifelong learners. She is interested and committed to supporting those who work in the area of trauma-informed practice, vicarious trauma, and managing the many demands inherent in our day-to-day work.
